Someone Filmed a Navy Sensor Screen Over the Pacific, 2019 - Case PR-123

Watch onYouTube

DOW-UAP-PR123 through PR127 are five clips from the Pacific Ocean in 2019, transferred to AARO in 2022 by the Navy's Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Task Force and released in PURSUE Release 05. AARO says the footage "was captured contemporaneously." PR123 (1:04) is "a secondary capture, recorded via a hand-held recording device, of an infrared sensor display aboard a U.S. military platform."

AARO's notes on PR123: an area of contrast is visible near the centre of the frame (0:00-0:03), "loses distinctiveness against the background" (0:04-0:07), then becomes visible again as the sensor pans and zooms to follow it. Because it is a recording of a screen, it "does not represent native primary sensor data, and the secondary recording method introduces limitations in fidelity, resolution, and overall visual quality," including blurring or flickering. The other clips in the set, PR126 and PR127, are handheld night footage of lights; we did not use them because they are too dark to read on a phone.

AARO states the media "was digitally altered before being reported to AARO, and is presented as it was received." The record gives no location beyond the Pacific Ocean and does not link these clips to any other publicized incident; neither do we. The case is unresolved.

Pacific Ocean, 2019. Aboard a U.S. military platform, someone points a handheld camera at an infrared sensor screen.

This is that recording. A shape near the centre of the screen.

For a few seconds it fades into the background. Then it's back, and the sensor pans and zooms in to follow it.

Because it's a camera filming a screen, not the sensor's own data, the Pentagon warns of blurring, flicker and lost detail.

It wasn't the only footage. Five clips were filmed at the same time, and the Navy's UAP task force passed them all to AARO in 2022.

It's listed as unresolved. Search Case PR-123 at ufodata.org. Subscribe to UFO Data.
