The Silent Triangle Over a Colorado Springs Backyard (FBI UAP Report, 2023)
2026-08-09 · Declassified UAP records
In October 2023, a couple sitting on their back porch in Colorado Springs watched a silent, translucent triangle pass low over their house — about three hundred feet up, roughly the size of an SUV, and gone in about four seconds.
The encounter is preserved in an FBI interview report, an FD-302, declassified through the government's UAP disclosure. Much of the report is blacked out — an entire section describing who the witness was is redacted. What survives is his account of the object, and his wife's, given in a separate room.
The object came from the northeast, moving southwest, low and completely silent. The witness said it looked as if seen through mist — rippling, like something underwater — a perfect triangle, dark gray or silver, with a band of silver-blue light along its flat trailing edge. Just before it vanished, the left side banked up to nearly vertical without changing course. He lived near an airport and knew every aircraft on sight, including the latest drones; this matched nothing. His wife independently recalled a dark seam running around the craft's edge.
Below is the declassified document, redactions intact, followed by the full narration transcript.

FBI FD-302 — Translucent Triangle Over Colorado Springs (Oct 2023)
On January ██████, 2026 ██████ was interviewed by Special Agent ██████, Task Force Officer ██████, Intelligence Analyst ██████, and Supervisory Special Agent ██████. After being advised of the identity of the interviewing agents and the nature of the interview, ██████ provided the following information:
On October ██████, 2023 at approximately 10:50 PM, ██████ and his wife were sitting on the back porch of their residence located at ██████, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The porch faces toward the southwest, and he and his wife were sitting with their backs towards the house. ██████ did not remember seeing many stars in the sky that night even though the sky was clear. As ██████ was looking up, he suddenly noticed that something had flown over his house from behind him, coming from the northeast, and was moving away from him towards the southwest.
The UAP appeared low in elevation, possibly as low as 300 feet. He estimated it was roughly the size of a large SUV based on his elevation estimation. From ██████ viewing perspective, at arm's length, the UAP appeared to be the size of the space between his thumb and pointer finger, which he approximated as 5 inches. ██████ did not think he would have noticed the UAP if it was a cloudy night. ██████ first noticed the object's movement before actually seeing its silhouette. When ██████ first spotted the UAP he thought it appeared almost see-through, and it had what appeared to be a haze or distortion around it. He further described it appearing as if you were looking at it through mist; and that there were ripples like you were looking at an object that is underwater.
The UAP looked like a perfect triangle, however because of his viewing angle, he couldn't definitively say whether it was isosceles or equilateral in shape. ██████ stated the UAP could have been either dark gray or silver in color which would have blended into the night sky, and with the surrounding distortion, it may have caused it to have the appearance of being translucent. ██████ thought the triangle had rounded edges and corners, but stated the distortion around the UAP may have made the edges less sharp in appearance. The UAP traveled away from him and his wife with a point forward-facing. As it traveled away from them, along the trailing, flat, back edge, it had what appeared to be a band of silverish blue light. ██████ hypothesized that the light could have been caused by the mode of propulsion for the UAP.
The UAP moved in a straight path at a consistent elevation. It moved very quickly and covered a large distance in the short time they observed the UAP. Just before they lost sight of the UAP, the left side of the triangle banked up quickly to an almost vertical orientation, but it did not change path or elevation. The UAP was completely silent, and ██████ did not feel any rumble, static, or any other effects from the object as it passed over him. ██████ residence was near an airport and he frequently observed aircraft, including private planes and helicopters, flying over his house. He was very familiar with how a normal aircraft should appear and sound flying over his house. ██████ witnessed the UAP for a total of four seconds from when he initially saw it to when he lost sight of it to the southwest, potentially over ██████. The UAP disappeared from his visual sight sooner than ██████ expected it should have. ██████ stated the entirety of the observation was so quick he did not have a chance to get his phone out to take a photo or video.

A silent, translucent triangle drifted low over a Colorado Springs backyard, its flat back edge glowing silver-blue. It banked once, and in four seconds it was gone.
October 2023, just before eleven at night. A man and his wife sat on their back porch, facing southwest, when it passed over the house behind them, moving northeast to southwest. Maybe three hundred feet up, about the size of an SUV. He said it looked like you were seeing it through mist, rippling, like something underwater, with no wings, no engine, and no sound at all.
This is the FBI's report on that night. And look how much of it is gone. An entire section, almost everything about who this witness was, blacked out. What survived the redactions? He lived near an airport. He knew every aircraft on sight, even the newest drones. And this matched none of them. His wife, interviewed in a separate room, described the same craft, down to a dark seam running around its edge.
The FBI hid who they were, but not what they saw. A silent triangle, low over a neighborhood, gone in four seconds. What do you think it was? Tell me in the comments. Search Case D-26 at ufodata.org to read the file yourself, and subscribe to UFO Data.
